Turkey hunting is not just “hunting ” for some of us, it’s much more than that somewhat spiritual. One of my turkey-hunting mentors recommended this book to me. After reading a couple of chapters I understood why he told me this book was a ‘must-read’. Mr. Morgan’s engaging narrating style covers all aspects of turkey hunting in detail and provides the reader with a liberal dose of useful facts.

As a hunter, all of us have a mentor who taught us how to indulge ourselves in classic turkey hunting. But now the newer generation relies too heavily on pop-up ground blinds and $150 decoys which actually take away the essence of the hunt. In this book, Mr. Morgan proves you don’t need any gadget to become a master in turkey hunting. Chapter 9: “The Art of Calling Springtime Gobblers” is worth the price of the book.

The reading of the book really sharpens your skills about turkey hunting especially the calling of the turkey. Don’t think about buying it, buy it.

Why You Read This Turkey Hunting Book

  • The appealing storytelling style of the book
  • 4.7/5-Star Rating over Amazon
  • Experience the best turkey calling sounds

During his life, Gene Nunnery was recognized as a veteran turkey hunter and a craftsman who created one-of-a-kind, practically compelling turkey calls. He shares his experiences of growing up in the turkey woods and the key to his successful hunting capers.

At the time the book was released, Mr. Gene was sixty-eight years old and had managed to take 248 wild turkey gobblers in his fifty-three years of hunting. Obviously, that alone put him far over 99% of our hunting populace and he was aptly nicknamed “Old Pro”.

Mr. Nunnery preferred taking on the turkey, one on one. He did not believe in the use of many of the legal, and some illegal, modern aids that are now popular. He put stock in the thrill and rush of calling the old gobbler up into shotgun range, an achievement that is still quite a feat today.
The book is loaded up with a fine blend of common sense and specific anecdotes of how master turkey hunters go about their business. Get this book, read it, and give it a try.

The book is a lovingly crafted look into the hidden life of the wild turkey. Joe Hutto is a fabulous thinker and is interested in the natural world around the turkeys. He spends most of the time with his subjects, talking to them while they were still in the egg, awaking with them, walking with them, enjoying the rain, winter, and heat with them, and lastly our favorite roosting with them at night.

While you reading the book you feel that the author rambles around the woods with his turkey. His illumination writing style leads the reader to a slower pace and notices the hidden facts everywhere.
