If you are a hunter then you know how essential a bow arrow rest is. It gives you more accuracy in every shot and provides greater control over the arrow flight. Also, buying a high-quality drop-away arrow rest assures you durability without the need for adjustments before taking another shot.

Best Drop Away Arrow Rest

What I have learned so far when buying a drop-away rest is to choose the one that is easy to set up. It must be easy to set up and it must be easy to mount as well. Remember to check the rest and it must be locked always or it might cause an accident for you and others near you.

  • Doesn’t come with a Knife

This one is my favorite and I would suggest this without any hesitation. The brand makes a wide range of rests at various levels which work in the same way. The downward-moving cable working model of this brand makes their product unique and it’s super easy to set up as well if you have the right tool. The brand provides you with a cable clamp which means you don’t have to use a bow press but the serving cord to your own cable not just looks better but also works well. This is an excellent point to know the limits as this might be an excellent choice for qualified bow tech to install.

Setting up the product is the same as any other rest. You will have to secure the bow and level them and attach it to the rest of the bow. You then have to put the launcher in the upright position and set the nocking points. Also, try setting it to the center as close as you can see it. You then have to attach the drop cord to the bow’s downward cable when this is done. You will have to attach this to the cable at the same level as the bottom of the grip in either case.

The product is available in both right and left-handed versions. You also get a color option between the camo print and black. I prefer the camo as it can blend well into the woods. The stainless steel body ensures the durability of the product and the peak vibrations are reduced a lot with the molded rubber as well. The brand is also offering a limited lifetime warranty, so check that with the buyer. The reason why I have listed this on the list and why it’s better than other products is that the Quality Archery Products HXB can come for years of trouble-free service if it’s set up and timed perfectly.

The affordable version of the same brand is the QAD Ultra rest which is priced at $54.95. Make sure to check them if in case you like the brand and want to explore their products. But this comes in the left-hand version only.

  • Durable and consistent

Cons

  • Not for bow fishing
  • Not suitable for high–poundage bows

I love to experiment with brush–style arrow rests and this one is no exception. These are incredibly smooth and calm as well. I take my shots very seriously hence they never fail to give accurate shots every time. I take these everywhere and into the woods as well. What makes the product unique is the brush that allows you to fire in any direction. The first thing I figured while using this is that it is the quieter arrow rest I have ever used. A loud bow can scare the game before getting the prey down, which can mess up the shot placement. Bows can make noise but you must minimize these as much as possible.

The only issue I had with these is that it does not work well with high–pound bows. Over, I would say this is great for archers and hunters who prefer to use a recurve bow that is less than 60 lbs. For the price, this rest works well on arrow flight. You also get these in 2 different styles the Arrow EZ-rest and the Arrow EZ rest and archery release. The first model is priced at $17.9 and the second model at $51.99

The product is also used for tactical and military and comes in a universal design for right and left-handed shooters. You can also replace the brush when it’s worn out. The mounting hardware is also included with the package and the mounting screw is also included which can fit on all bows.

Whisker Biscuits are also popular these days for their reliability and simplicity. If you are an experienced hunter then you can come with more advantages like it’s easy to install and adjust and can securely hold arrows. Trophy Ridge is one of the many brands that manufacture quality archery products. They aim to make products that come with a wide range of benefits. The most important quality of the Trophy Ridge Kill shot is that they are super accurate, weigh less, and come with smart qualities that you cannot expect from the other brands.

I trust this as it is safe and reliable; the product is not just high in quality but can be with you for lifetime use. Some of my hunting peers have found it so reliable and its life was for over 20 years. The brand offers 4 models and follows a progression of enhanced adjustments and features to consider. The kill shot has been redesigned recently and it weighs just 4 – ounces. It has a rubber material and is available in various colors like purple, green, orange, red, pink, brown, yellow, and so on. What makes me include this in the list is the “Redesigned” frame which is more durable than ever and comes with a smooth slider that can be adjusted.

The compact and light design makes sure that the arrow delivery is accurate even when the arrow is shaking. Overall the product is an excellent buy but the range of fletch you try can be narrow. You can remove the bristles and replace them; they can be purchased from their official website or on Amazon. Another product you can consider buying from the same brand is the Trophy Ridge Sync Drop Away Right Hand Arrow Rest.

4. NAP Apache Drop Away Arrow Rest

Cons

  • Designed only for right-handed
  • Heavier than average ones

Another inexpensive product on the list comes with a simple action that aims at hunters who are looking for durable and dependable rest that will not cost them more. At the time of the review, this cost just $48.95 but the original price was $59.99, you can also buy these from their official website. This model falls into a simple style and doesn’t have a cheap feel. The structural component of the material is metal and comes with full containment arms that can prevent the arrow from falling off.

What makes the product so famous is it’s calmer and reduced through a generous pad around the containment and the black material in the launcher arm. Like other products, this drops-away bow rest is operated by a cord which you can see in the image. Setting up the product is also simple and there is a bolt and a screw that can secure the rest of the bow and also includes an optional plastic plate that goes beyond the product. Once this is installed, it’s super easy to serve the cord to the cable and set the right length.

The manual that comes with the product is super explanatory. Overall, for the features that you get, It is for sure a capable rest that has the right price point. Setup and tuning are also easy and quick and thanks to the tool-less adjustments. If you are looking for a rest to use for hunting, then make use of the full containment where the arrow can get knocked off, but it does add some weight to the whole rest.

5. Trophy Taker RH Drop Down Arrow Rest

  • Dimensions: 3” x 6” x 10”
  • Weight: 6.5 ounces
  • Release: Self-centering capture system

Pros

  • Simple installation
  • The rest can stay for long years and are durable
  • Auto-adjust string clamp
  • Include a silencing kit
  • Makes Limb attachment and up–cable attachment easier
  • Available in Red, Black, and Camo

Cons

  • Expensive

Over the years I have tested a wide range of bows with this arrow rest and what grabbed my attention is their solid body and sleek and stylish design. The manual says that the body is bulletproof and easy to install as well. Anyone could install these without much effort and these are very common among archers and bow hunters. The design is simple, popular, and comes in a skinny look.

Why I have listed on 5th place when it has so many advantages is that is expensive but you could get them in a great deal only from Amazon. I ordered these from one of the top online hunting stores but received left – the hand model mistakenly but the issue was corrected. The product is easy to set up and enables swift and simple tuning in just a minute. You can loosen the Allen’s head screw for elevation and windage. And to tune the product, you need to adjust the dials to dial it in the rest and tightened the screws to lock in the setup. The setup can be done either with the limb attachment or with the up–cable attachment. But limb attachment works better for me.

This rest is made for hunting with a wide range of benefits. To make arrows stay in place and ready to roll, there is a rubber-molded steel containment ring. Whether you hunt from a treestand or through the bush, the launcher will take the arrow on the way up and you don’t have to worry about whether the arrow is on the launcher or not. Overall, this is just for bow hunters and I see this as a dedicated product for hunters. With a solid body and rugged design, this product is a must-have.

Frequently Ask Questions

1. What is a drop-away rest?

A drop-away arrow rest will drop away when the arrow is launched. The limb-driven and the cable-driven drop-away rest. The limb that is driven comes with a cable that runs either side of the arrow on the top or the bottom of the bow. When the bow is drawn, the cable will draw the limb inwards and allows the rest to move into a place. Once the arrow is launched, the drop-away rest will move back again which the help of the cable that is being released. The cable-driven on the other hand uses a cable to operate.

4. How do choose the right arrow rest?

A perfect arrow rest will hold the arrow no matter what the orientation of the bow is. It will also be calm during the draw and launch of the arrows. During the release, the rest will have very less or no contact with the arrow shaft or vanes.

5. Is an arrow rest important?

An arrow rest is essential but you could also use Velcro or smoothing though. You can choose either way and an arrow rest can give you a better arrow flight
